Zane is taller than average standing at 6’2” with medium length light brown hair usually combed back revealing a strong jawline and an aquiline nose. He has gray-blue eyes with dark brown eyebrows. Zane wears sturdy plated armor around his frame with a mix of scale, leather, and other materials to give him maximum mobility and protection. He uses a shield emblazoned with the crest of Karrnath and the long sword, Crimson Canis, personally given to him by King Kaius III (gold plated hilt, emblazoned with a red wolf with ruby eyes). He has a tattoo on his left arm of the Karrnathi Heraldic crest and two pulsing purple Marks of Sentinel on his forearms.

Zane was born during the decline of the Last War in Thronehold. Thronehold is the former capital city of Galifar, located on an island in the middle of Scions Sound. It is a place of international intrigue, divided into four districts that are each controlled by one of the surviving Five Nations.

Zane was found on the steps of the ruined castle and taken to a local orphanage. He was quickly adopted by a traditional Karrnathian military family known as the Ironstriders. His new parents, Zed & Zaila, were eager to adopt a child given their misfortune in trying to have one of their own. He was raised in semi-nobility with the clout that comes to a higher ranking official of the Karrnath nation. Zane was driven to win and dominate all aspects of his life by his strict and militaristic father. Thronehold was a harsh and competitive city given the nations controlling the districts. Often the districts would compete in academic and sports events which more often than not ended in accidental bloodshed. It was here where prospective military academies and other organizations would scout their newest recruits to further the interests of their respective nations. Sometimes the schools would conduct military war simulations with the kids to prepare them for the inevitability of going to war. During these annual games, Zane assumed command led Karrnath’s team to a flawless victory over the other three nations. It was at the peak of this exercise that Zane’s Mark of Sentinel manifested on his forearms. Zane’s dominance in every field led to him being offered an exclusive fully paid admittance to join House Deneith in Karrlakton.

After his arrival to Karrlakton, Baron Breven d’Deneith took Zane directly under his wind and groomed him for command. Together they performed duties exclusively for King Kaius III which mostly consisted of being a personal escort and running event security. During one event, an assassin got to within an arm’s reach of Kaius. Given Zane’s intense training and instinct, he was able to intercept the assassin and quickly put a sword through his stomach stopping the assassin cold. Due to his heroic efforts, King Kaius granted Zane the title of Protector of the King and awarded him the honorary Crimson Canis; a golden hilted long sword emblazoned with the face of a wolf with two rubies for eyes.

The following night, Kaius III threw a military ball to honor his soliders and this is where Zane received his next assignment. Having proven his dedication and capability to Baron Breven, Zane was assigned to accompany a very high ranking agent of the Veil; who was escorting a captain at the ball that very night. I was given a description and found my target, May’m Af’Valendar. May’m acted oddly and her personality did not seem to fit the description given to him by Breven however Zane quickly figured out that she was playing it up to the captain to obtain information. She seemed to think of him as hired help but Zane remembered his duty to house Deneith and would accompany her until he received his next assignment.

Character Goals

Zane does have some interest in finding out who his birth parents were but the sense of immediate duty and excellence prevents him from really striking out. Zane has never really known love other than the battlefield and strategy and realizes a piece of him is missing.

Character Quirks

Zane often quotes famous/obscure military leaders and royal figures at awkward times to inspire his company.

Aurala ir’Wynarn

Baron Breven d’Deneith

King Kaius III

May’m Af’Valendar

Zed Ironstrider

1. Connected biologically to the ir’Wynarn family.

2. There are rumors that House Deneith is secretly forming a military to assume control of the Five Kingdoms through secrecy and force. This rumor is heavily denied and made fun of but is true to some degree.

3. King Kaius III is actually a vampire who has lived for hundreds of years as is much of the ruling council of Karrnath.
